  1. I am so excited for MTB! We all knew he was a star anyway :) If you give this horse a chance, he could be the next Seabiscuit! Take him back to square one and start over (away from DWL). He's got the talent and ability...you have to believe in him. There are so many talented trainers out there that would be perfect and patient with MTB. Take him back to his natural running style. Retiring him now is not the answer. Give him another year and the right trainer and I'm telling you MTB will win again. Don't give up on him. I know horses and there is something special about this horse...just don't give up yet!!

  3. Sounds great can't wait to see it. As for his career I say give him back to Chip QUIT RUNNING HIM IN GRADE 1 RACES. Put him in a easier spot and let him get his confidence back. Retiring him just because he isn't a grade 1 horse anymore is kind of krazy.

  4. My poor little Bird! What went so terribly wrong? And, what will happen to him in retirement at such a tender age? Will he end up a cow poke on a ranch? A stable pony out at Ruidoso? At least send him to the KY Horse Park so all of his adoring fans can see him!

  5. To our little horse that could...Birdie, I always said even if you never won another race, the thrill you gave us with your Derby run and your gallant effort in the Preakness and Belmont would be enough. The heart and grit you showed quieted your critics and your name will forever be etched in racing history. You became a household name, you gained a huge fan base and won one for the little guys. I'm sorry that 2010 wasn't your year but the memories you have given us in your magical TC runs will last a lifetime for your fans. You won't be forgotten to those who love you. Enjoy the good life just being a horse and a movie star :) You've earned it little guy. I'll miss seeing you race and I will always love you. Thanks for the memories Bird.

  7. I still love this horse. Maybe after three hard fought triple crown races and a throat surgery, he just got burned out. It happens, there's no shame in it. Nothing will ever take away from Mine that Birds' awesome derby win. I doubt we'll ever see another run for the roses like that again. I'm so happy you are retiring safe and sound. You are tough as nails little Bird, I'm sorry that you're gelded because you have a good bloodline that should've been passed on. Oh well, make a cute movie. I'm definately going to add it to my Mine that Bird collection. Thank you for the memories, don't tell Zenyatta, but YOU are my favorite pony and I'll never forget you.

  8. One more thing, Mine that Bird is a grade one horse who doesn't want to race anymore for whatever the reason. The problem isn't in his legs, it's between his ears, so there would be no point to drop him in class and continue running him. As fans, we need to treasure the fond memories and allow Mine that Bird to retire without questioning why.

I hope you will be very happy! Sorry for a rough 4 yrd old campaign. I will always wonder if the outcome would have been different with your Canadian trainer or like with someone who shares a Guiness with you...
You already made history and the most important thing is that you are safe and sound! To your fans you will always be one of the greatest!
Surely you will be busy now taking acting lessons:) and I too hope we get to see lots of pic. of you!

Thank you for the magic, Birdie! I shall never forget your TC races. See you on the red carpet:)

  11. Did MTB get back to NM yet? I haven't seen any photos of him yet back at the ranch yet. Stuff on eBay from the derby 135 has gone up in price after the announcement of the movie. The new web site for the movie looks nice. I hope they put some photos of the bird relaxing on it!

  12. Better use Mine that Bird to star in his own movie if you want any success out of the sales. He will be the biggest reason people will want to see the movie.
